In order to explain the SLGA001 that we have prepared this time, it is essential to talk about the movement that is installed. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the brand in 2020, two new movements have been introduced.
These are the "9SA5" installed in the new model SLGH005, which has become a hot topic, and the "9RA5" installed in the SLGA001 introduced this time.

Spring Drive 5Days 9RA5

This new Spring Drive movement has not yet been installed in any other model, nor has it been announced in this year's new models. It is expected to be very difficult to manufacture.
This movement is characterized by being thinner and stronger than ever before, while also providing longevity, precision and beauty .

In order to make it even more comfortable to wear, the movement itself has been made thinner, and the crown has been moved as close to the caseback as possible to lower the center of gravity.

The reason why the low center of gravity was achieved is the "magic lever", which is an automatic winding mechanism. Conventionally, this mechanism was located near the center of the movement in order to increase the winding efficiency. In addition, we have adopted a new structure that does not reduce the hoisting efficiency by improving the precision of parts processing.

One piece center bridge

While striving for slimness, in order to ensure robustness, the gear train is deployed near the center of the movement, and a single plate supports many shafts from above, such as a "one-piece center bridge". Acquired impact resistance that can withstand standards.

Furthermore, it has a long power reserve that lasts for about 120 hours (5 days) at maximum winding .

The conventional standard Spring Drive had a maximum winding time of about 72 hours (3 days), but the "Caliber 9RA5" has a maximum winding time of about 120 hours (5 hours) by adopting two barrels. day) achieved a significant long-lasting persistence. In order to demonstrate the required duration and high torque in a limited space, we have developed a “dual size barrel” with two barrels, large and small, with different sizes. The wheel train of the two barrels has also been newly developed and designed to provide optimum torque.

While it is driven by the main spring, which is the greatest feature of Spring Drive, it achieves a monthly accuracy of ±10 seconds, which is even higher than the previous model, which had a monthly accuracy of ±15 seconds .

Adopting a new structure called an innovative "package IC"

In order to achieve high accuracy, in addition to a newly developed IC with a built-in temperature sensor, a crystal with stable performance has been passed through the "aging process" for three months by applying a constant voltage and artificially aging it. Select only vibrators. In addition, we adopted a new structure called "package IC" that encloses the IC and crystal unit in a single vacuum package. As a result, the distance between the temperature sensor mounted on the IC and the crystal oscillator can be brought as close as possible, reducing the temperature difference and improving the temperature correction accuracy. Furthermore, by enclosing it in a vacuum package, it achieves stable accuracy even against humidity changes. In addition, the shielding effect of the package makes it more resistant to noise such as static electricity and the effects of light, contributing to improved reliability.

Unfortunately, it's a diver's watch, so it doesn't have a see-through back, but it has a very beautiful movement design.

Movement design inspired by the beautiful nature of Shinshu

Aiming for a sophisticated and beautiful appearance, the Caliber 9RA5 was designed from the conception stage of the movement, with the designers working together to pursue the movement design using the beautiful nature of Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture, where it was developed as a motif. . Shortly before the snow falls in early winter, the fog freezes from the cold and turns into hoarfrost, turning the grasslands and trees white. The exterior of Caliber 9RA5 expresses the frosty rime and the sparkle of the cool, clear starry sky peeking through the cracks.

The reason for this is that it is less susceptible to temperature changes and shocks, which is a feature of Spring Drive. It is said that it was released as a diver's watch so that you can experience the true value that can withstand hard scenes.

The power reserve display is also 5 days, so there are 5 scales.

Speaking of Spring Drive, the power reserve is indicated, but the previous model was indicated between 7:00 and 8:00, but this model is set between 9:00 and 10:00. The power reserve display needle is red, and this is one of the specifications that makes you feel special, just like the other 60th anniversary limited models.

The ceramic bezel has excellent durability.
The bezel side is well made and has excellent operability.

The bezel is made of safe ceramic. It is a nice point that there is almost no worry about scratches or discoloration. The unevenness of the bezel is also well built, and the operability is outstanding.

The crown at 4 o'clock, which is used in Seiko's diver's watches. It plays a role in hindering work and improving crown operability. It's water resistant for 600m saturation diving, but lacks the usual helium escape valve. It was said that this was not provided because of the strong case made to prevent helium gas from entering by maximizing the sealing performance. I feel the high level of Seiko's technology.

Case polished with Zaratsu polishing of titanium material

Is it because of its high design that it doesn't make you feel that big even though the case diameter is 46mm? The highly polished case, which uses Zaratsu polishing of bright titanium, is well chamfered and has an outstanding sense of luxury. Above all, it is light, so you can use it without getting tired even with a large case.

The case is also thin, and it feels good to wear even though it is a diver's watch.

A feeling of wearing improves because a movement is thin. The size of 46mm does not make you feel.

Buckle with adjuster function is also simple and robust. It is possible to make fine adjustments with your own hands without having to come to the store.

The bright titanium bracelet is also carefully polished.

And this rubber band is also included . The atmosphere changes, so it's a nice point to follow from the beginning.
