Those who looked at the picture and thought, "What?" You must be a Speedmaster fan.

It's been 63 years since the Speedmaster was born. Originally born for motor sports, the model was reborn as a "second generation model" in 1959, and in 1962, together with Mr. Wally Schiller, he traveled to the unknown territory of "space" for mankind.

Speedmaster = Universe

Today we would like to introduce the successor to the model that determined that fate.

Left: Original 2nd model of 1959 model Right: Successor model reprinted in 2012

This model, which was released in 2012 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Wally Schiller's spacewalk, has been made to reproduce the details of the time as much as possible. A characteristic point is the symmetrical case design without alpha-type hands and crown guards, which are not found in the current Moonwatch family.

The real dial adopts a glossy black. The bezel became a black base from the 2nd model.

Wally Schiller, a space flight specialist at NASA, wore the original model as a personal item during the Mercury program in 1962. The fact that a commercially available wristwatch, which was not a special order product, had specs that could withstand a spacewalk from that time, may have hinted at the future history of the Speedmaster.

The clean impression that the current Moonwatch does not have is probably due to the hands and the shape of the case.

The case diameter of 39.7MM is just the right size, not too big and not too small. A limited edition model bearing the model number of the time, CK2998, has been released in the past, and it is understandable that it will be popular.
